Lagniappe

Genius Tips and Tricks is a category to hold anything from random office tips, event listings, recipes, gardening tips, and so forth or as we in south Louisiana like to say, it is Lagniappe. Unlike the word blog, Lagniappe, has a long history. According to Wikipedia and the Merriam-Webster dictionary, Lagniappe is derived from a South American Quechua phrase brought to Louisiana by the Spanish. La yapa referred to a free extra item. Over time the French influence changed la yapa to lagniappe. Merriam-Webster states that the word was first used in its present form in 1844. So enjoy the posts in this really random castigatory. Kinda like Lagniappe, you never know what or when a little something will show up here.
